Regular rectangles, circles, and ellipses only. Use measured water dimensions and a representative average depth. Steps, shelves, irregular bottoms, kidney/freeform shapes, and attached spas need separate measurement.

Use decimals, simple fractions such as 1/4, or grouped commas such as 10,000. Blank or invalid values never become defaults.

Supported calculation envelope: 1–1,000,000 US gallons. Dimensions must be positive, up to 500 feet across and 50 feet average depth.

Method, supported products, and references

Rectangles use length × width × average depth. Circles and ellipses also use π/4. Cubic feet are converted to US gallons using 1728/231.

Testing and measurement

Start with reliable information

No test kit needed. You only need length, width, and average depth.

Keep the product label available, never mix pool chemicals together, and ask a qualified pool professional if you are unsure how to interpret a reading.
